Course categories are like tags under which, the admin can group certain courses together. By adding a course within a category, it allows you to organize the courses so that they can be looked up easily and reports can be pulled up based on category. A category could be based on various criteria such as subject, vendor, department, skill group, etc.
Here’s what you need to do to create and manage course categories.
- On the left menu pane, select Courses >Manage Course Categories.
The Manage Course Categories screen appears.
- In the Name field, type a name for the course category.
- Thus, the course category gets added and is displayed in the table below.
Note: The course categories can be edited or deleted by using the Edit and Delete fields in the Action column. Once a course has been added into a category, that category cannot be deleted. If you want to delete a category, then all the courses within that category should first be moved to another category. This ensures data integrity within the system.
