How to setup a Registration process for Learners
Abara is a closed and protected network. Only registered users can access the platform. The master administrator can decide between the available registration types.
- Log in as a master administrator.
- From the menu pane on the left, select Users.
- Click Registration Options.
PRIMARY KEY
Set the primary key as Username if the learners don’t have an email address. This will also disable all emails.
- To set the primary key, select either Email Address or Username.
- You can select the length of username.
- Click Update.

APPROVAL REQUIRED FOR LEARNER REGISTRATION
If you want to approve or reject the learner’s registration requests, here’s what you need to do.
- Select the Approval required for learner registration check box.
- Click Update.

THROUGH THE LMS ITSELF
To allow the users to self-register, here’s what you need to do.
- Select the Through LMS itself check box.
- Click Update.

Once you enable the self-registration setting, the user will see a new option to sign-up for an account on their Sign In screen.

To register into Abara, the user needs to fill in the form according to the settings you have selected and click Submit.

If your approval is required for learner registration, they will receive a message.

Once you approve the user registration request, they will be intimated through their registered email address, and will be able to log into the LMS using their username and password. If your approval is not required for learner registration, they will be redirected to their dashboard.
THROUGH LINKEDIN
To allow the users to log into the LMS by using their LinkedIn accounts, here’s what you need to do.
- Select the Through LinkedIn check box.
- Click Update.

- Connect to https://developer.linkedin.com with your registered LinkedIn credentials.
The LinkedIn Developers page opens.
- Click My Apps on the top menu.
- Click Create Application.

- Fill the form with all the required information.
- Agree to the Terms and Conditions.
- Click Submit.

- Fill the fields with the relevant URLs.
- Click Update.

You will receive your application details.
Note: The API key and the security key are those, which you should insert in your Abara Platform.
ACTIVATING THE LINKEDIN APP
To activate the LinkedIn app, here’s what you need to do.
- On the left menu pane, select Users>Registration Options>Through LinkedIn.
The Registration Options screen appears.
- In the API Access Code field, copy your client ID.
- In the Secret Code field, copy your client secret code.
- Click Update.

Once logged out, you and other users should be able to see the LinkedIn logo on the LMS Sign In screen.

If your approval is required for learner registration, they will see a message.

Once you approve the user registration request, they will be intimated through their registered email address, and will be able to log into the LMS using their LinkedIn username and password. If your approval is not required for learner registration, they will be redirected to their dashboard.
THROUGH FACEBOOK
To allow the users to log into the LMS by using their Facebook accounts, here’s what you need to do.
- Select the Through Facebook check box.
- Click Update.

- Connect to http://developers.facebook.com/ with your registered Facebook account.
The Facebook for developers page opens.

- From the drop-down on the top right corner, select My Apps.
- Click Add a New APP.


- After clicking Add a New App, the following page will display for creating a new app ID.

- In the display name field, Enter Abara
- Click the Create App ID

- After creating App Id, Click the Facebook Login > Set Up button.

- Select Web Option.

- In the Site URL field, type the URL of the website that will use the Facebook login (that is the URL of your Abara E-Learning platform).
- Click the Save button.
- Click the Continue button.

- From left menu pane select Facebook login>settings
- Enter Valid URL (which we entered in site URL) in “Valid OAuth Redirect URLs”.
- Click the Save Changes.

- From Left menu pane Select Settings>Basic
- Enter Privacy Policy URL
Note: In the Privacy Policy URL, I have entered Abara’s Privacy Policy URL. You can use your Privacy Policy URL.
- Select Category from category drop down.

Note: The App ID and App Secret codes will be used later.
- In the Make Abara LMS Live and public section, On this section.
This makes your app public.

- Click the Credentials button
- Click Create credentials
- From the Create Credentials list, select OAuth client ID.


- Click Configure consent screen.

- In the Product name shown to user’s field, type the name of the LMS.
Note: This is the name that will be shown to the users while logging into LMS using their Gmail account.
- Click Save.

- From the Application type section, select Web application.
- In the Name field, type the name of the app.
- In the Authorized redirect URL field, Enter a valid URL.
- Click Create.

Note: The Client ID and Client Secret codes will be used later.

To allow users to log into the LMS using their Twitter accounts, here’s what you need to do.
- Select the Through Twitter check box.
- Click Update.

- Connect to the website https://apps.twitter.com/ with your registered Twitter account credentials.
- Click Create New App.

- Fill the form with all the required information.
- Click Create your Twitter application.

The Consumer Key and Consumer Secret codes are shown, which will be used later.

ACTIVATING THE TWITTER APP
To activate the Twitter app, here’s what you need to do.
- Log in as a master administrator.
- On the left menu pane, select Users>Registration Options>Through Twitter.
- In the Consumer Code field, copy your consumer key.
- In the Secret Code field, copy your consumer secret.
- Click Update.

Once logged out, you and other users should be able to see the Twitter logo on the LMS log in page.

If your approval is required for learner registration, they will see a message.

Once you approve the user registration request, they will be intimated through their registered email address, and will be able to log into the LMS using Twitter username and password. If your approval is not required for learner registration, they will be redirected to their dashboard.
